St. Mary of the Woods, along with the rest of the Chicago
Archdiocese, participates in the annual TerraNova testing.
TerraNova is a standardized test that provides a diagnostic
evaluation of each student’s strengths and needs for
differentiating instruction. St. Mary of the Woods, along
with the Archdiocese, uses the data to plan instructional
program offerings, determine growth of students in our
school over time, report success and progress to boards and
parents, and monitor changes in the curriculum.
St. Mary of the Woods also participates in the EXPLORE test
for 8th grade students. ACT, Inc. develops the EXPLORE test
which provides valuable information regarding academic
preparation for high school as well as college and career
readiness. Students will take four academic tests (Reading,
English, Math, and Science), each requiring 30 minutes.
Student’s test results will be used to identify current
educational needs to maximize his/her preparation for high
school.
