At the elementary level, these principles must be presented and understood so that our awareness will challenge us to respond to an economic society.

Fine Arts Curriculum

Because St. Mary of the Woods believes that art is an integral part of life, we support the fact that art is essential to the education of all students. Given a quality foundation in art education, students at all levels will have the opportunity to express themselves, dream and create in order to fully realize their potential as well-rounded individuals.

St. Mary of the Woods further believes that all students shall be provided with a solid grounding in the tools of visual literacy as well as an understanding of world cultures through art. Inherent in both is an emphasis on developing creative solutions to visual and spatial problems through the use of a variety of art and design concepts.

Computer Curriculum

Our students will be equipped with the skills that contribute to independent and creative thinking.

Library/Resource Curriculum

St. Mary of the Woods library will serve the needs of the whole child, whether their curiosity is related to the pursuit of formal education or to the search for personal growth. The library is committed to creating an environment of intellectual, emotional and social development.

The curriculum will provide good motivation and logical reasons for the learning experience. The process will be enjoyable, provide for time to share.

Music Curriculum

Music education at St. Mary of the Woods is geared toward introducing the students to music by assisting them in learning and applying skills that will enable them to take an active part in music and to become perceptive and understanding listeners. As the students experience music fully, that is, aurally, physically, mentally, and vocally, a sense of aesthetic satisfaction will evolve. We strive through music education to assist the students in fulfilling their needs for religious and personal expression so they may realize their full potential in the future.

Physical Education Curriculum

St. Mary of the Woods' physical education program is comprehensive, age appropriate, and focuses on the whole child. The program covers a wide range of sports and fitness activities, health and dance. It increases physical competence, health-related fitness and enjoyment of physical activity for students so they can establish physical activity as a natural part of everyday life.

Spanish Curriculum

The overall objectives of the Spanish curriculum are to develop, reinforce, and refine proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture. Students will not only acquire language skills, but learning strategies, that will aid them as they continue their studies in later years.
