Basketball Season updates, our 7th and 8th grade basketball teams are competing in area tournaments at Loyola Academy, Trinity High Schools and Ignatius Prep.  All of our coaches have received new royal blue coaches shirts.

Mission Statement and Philosophy

The fundamental philosophy of the St Mary of the Woods School athletic program is an extension of our Christian faith. Through its athletic program, St. Mary of the Woods School strives to create a positive and enjoyable learning environment where each student athlete can develop his/her abilities and encourages the teaching of positive values such as sportsmanship, respect for coaches, teammates and opponents, and the mastery of skills through teaching, practice and hard work.

Goals

The goals of the St. Mary of the Woods athletic program are:
 Teaching sportsmanship, in relation to faith, growth and development,
Giving students the experience of being on a team,
Developing school and team spirit,
Helping students develop strong, healthy and disciplined bodies and minds,
Helping students maintain good health through physical fitness,
Providing an enjoyable recreational activity which can be sustained into adulthood,
 Encouraging values of self-discipline, self-confidence, fair play and cooperation;
Teaching the proper attitude toward winning, losing and competing with dignity and respect.
